1. Basic introduction of activated carbon

Activated carbon is also called activated carbon black. It is black powder or granular amorphous carbon. Because of the irregular arrangement of microcrystalline carbon in the structure of activated carbon, there are pores between cross-connections, and carbon structure defects will be generated during activation. Therefore, it is a kind of porous carbon with low bulk density and large specific surface area.

2. Principle of activated carbon water purification

Activated carbon is a very fine carbon particle with a large surface area, and there are even finer pores in the carbon particles - capillaries. This kind of capillary has strong adsorption capacity, and because of the large surface area of carbon particles, it can fully contact with impurities. These impurities are adsorbed by the capillary and have a purification effect.

3. Requirements for activated carbon

The activated carbon used in a good water purifier must have the characteristics of large adsorption capacity, long service life, high mechanical strength, low ash content, easy flushing, and good water quality. It can not only remove odor and improve chroma, but also has a high removal rate for various toxic and harmful substances in water such as chlorine, phenol, mercury, lead, arsenic, chloride, detergents, pesticides, fertilizers and other pollutants. The main technical indicators are as follows:

1. Particle size (10-24 mesh 2.0-0.8mm): >95%;

Description: Generally speaking, the smaller the particle size of activated carbon, the larger the specific surface area. That is, the better the adsorption effect, but the smaller the particle size, the greater the loss and the more dust.

2.Iodine adsorption value: 1000 mg/g;

Note: Generally speaking, the higher the iodine adsorption value, the stronger the adsorption capacity of activated carbon.

3. Specific surface area: 100--- 1200 m2/g;

Note: If you take 1 gram of activated carbon and expand all the pore walls into a plane, the area will reach 1000 square meters (that is, the specific surface area is 1000g/m2)! The main factor affecting the adsorption of activated carbon depends on the degree of development of the internal pore structure. (And the larger the specific surface area, the better the adsorption effect of activated carbon).

4. Methylene blue decolorization power: 0ml/g;

Description: Decolorization ability.

5. Wear resistance: 95%;

Description: That is, the performance of wear resistance or anti-friction; the higher the strength, the better the activated carbon performance.

6. Drying loss: W10%;

Description: Drying loss and refers to moisture, the lower the value, the better the quality of activated carbon.

7. Ignition residue: W 3%;

Description: Burning residue and ash content, the lower the value, the better the quality of activated carbon.

8. Filling specific gravity: 0.48---0.55 g/ml;

Explanation: Filling specific gravity and finger density. Generally, the smaller the density, the better the adsorption capacity of activated carbon.

9. PH value: 6---8.
